Juan Cosgayon ... presenting his work in an innovative way.

ART lovers will be able to see a stunning collection of artworks at the Sunset Gallery during December.
Local artist Juan Cosgayon is staging an exhibition titled Oneline at the gallery from Saturday 14 December.
Mr Cosgayon collaborated with fellow artist and former Port Macquarie resident Belinda Rosenbaum to create a dynamic collection of contemporary artworks, showcasing up-cycled and natural materials which serve as the inspiration for the grungy artworks and conceptual gallery display.
As the title alludes, Oneline is conceptual in its design, with the artworks presented in one continuous straight line.
Oneline is about exhibiting contemporary artworks in a different, more confronting and thematic way.
The works are hung side-by-side, forming one line, quite unlike the traditional way of displaying arts.
It is essential to this concept that the pieces are small.
Each artwork is representative of the artist’s individual creative processes, techniques and media.
Mr Cosgayon is known for his distinctive gallery design work.
“Oneline is a concept that came about working at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery,” he said.
“I have been installing exhibitions at the gallery for a couple of years. During this time I worked with the conventional way of hanging artworks.
“Through my experience in exhibition installations I developed a growing desire to create a new concept of hanging artworks.”
Mr Cosgayon said he invited Ms Rosenbaum to collaborate because it was exciting to work with another artist who also produced contemporary, unusual pieces.
“At Oneline you will find salvaged materials, marks and textures that give the artworks a unique character, featured blocks of blackbutt rescued from a builder’s scrap pile, salvaged skateboard decks, cedar cigar boxes found at a market stall and broken off steel bristles from a street sweeper,” he said.
The Sunset Gallery is at 11 Murray Street, Port Macquarie. The exhibition will run for two weeks, kicking off at 6pm on the first night.
