PORT Macquarie MP Leslie Williams has announced $300,000 in funding for 20 local organisations through the 2013 Community Building Partnerships (CBP) grants program.
“The grants are a fantastic way to directly benefit community groups, create local jobs and increase business opportunities while at the same time enhancing local investment in the Port Macquarie electorate,” Mrs Williams said.
“I am pleased to announce that grants have been approved for a variety of projects across the electorate ranging from $4610 for the Players Theatre to $28,500 to the Camden Haven Surf Life Saving Club.
“My office has contacted all of the recipients to let them know they have been successful with their funding applications.
“While unfortunately not every application can be approved, those that were are delighted and cannot wait to start their projects.
“The NSW Government is getting on with the job to rebuild NSW by investing almost $60 billion for infrastructure across the state over the next four years to fix the infrastructure backlog.
“While we are delivering major infrastructure projects, like the upgrade of the Pacific Highway and the redevelopment of Port Macquarie Base Hospital, we understand the importance of local community infrastructure and potential benefits for local businesses.
“There was strong competition for the available funds and a high level of interest from the community with over 2700 applications received across the state in total.
“I look forward to seeing the benefits to our communities as projects are undertaken and put into use across the Port Macquarie electorate.”
