SOME of the region’s best young musical talent will be showcased at the Glasshouse on Valentines Day, Friday 14 February.
Top-scoring HSC musicians drawn from high schools spanning the region of Armidale to Coffs Harbour to the Great Lakes will perform at the annual Bravissimo concert.
Concert co-ordinator Leanne Johnson said there would be some wonderful musicians selected representing schools from the Port Hastings area – in fact nine of the 20 performers come from this area. The 20 also includes four Encore nominees who finished in the top one per cent of the state.
The line-up includes Encore nominee Alex Small from St Joseph Regional College and three of fellow classmates, singer Madeline Farlow, awesome bass guitarist Jacob Corbet, and amazing flautist/percussionist Ashleigh Wall. Also from Port Macquarie High School, Alex Cosato, who was first in Music, and guitarist Taylor Young. Jeremy Wall from Westport High achieved his band 6 as a talented pianist. April Dale represents Mackillop Senior college with her band 6 vocal expertise. Candy Welsh from Camden Haven High will be also perform as lead singer in a rendition of a song by the Jezebels.
The concert presents all styles of music, from classical to jazz to rock and includes some of the students’ own compositions.
This is the third year Bravissimo has been staged with both previous concerts sold out. The concert starts at 12.30pm. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 concession and are available only through the box office at the Glasshouse Port Macquarie online or phone 6581 8888.
