THE thought of oysters and wine was just too hard to resist for many Hastings residents and visitors on Sunday, with thousands flocking to the Oysters in the Vines event on Australia Day at the Cassegrain Winery.
Staged by Cassegrain Wines and Armstrong Oysters, the day featured a great array of food and entertainment as well as an artists markets and live music.
For many the food was a highlight and there was certainly plenty to choose from, ranging from oysters prepared several different ways to beer-battered fish, wood-fired pizza and many other savoury and sweet delicacies. The lure of Cassegrain’s best wines and a variety of boutique beers was also hard to go past.
This is the eighth year the event has been staged, with all signs pointing to this continuing to be a perennial favourite on the Port Macquarie events calendar.
