THE Hastings received an early dose of NRL footy fever early this week when Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles player Daly Cherry-Evans stopped off in Port Macquarie during pre-season promotional work. The much lauded player, who has represented Queensland in the State of Origin and also played for Australia, attended a charity fundraising barbecue organised by the Bendigo Bank and also dropped in to say g’day at Hastings Headway, an organisation that supports people with brain injuries. While there, he also caught up with long-time Sea Eagles supporter Greg Boyd, who has barracked for the Sea Eagles for almost 50 years and has an entire pool room full of memorabilia. “I’ve met a couple of players many years ago, but this is just the best experience,” Mr Boyd said.
