THE search is on again for local women who have made a lasting impression on the community, as part of the annual Hastings Heroines event to be held on Friday 7 March to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Hastings Business Women’s Network president Kelly Lamb said the Hastings Heroines awards honour inspirational women who have made significant contributions to our local community.
“A Hastings Heroine is a woman in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region who has demonstrated strong community values, a willingness to make a difference and a desire to improve the lives of others,” Mrs Lamb said.
“The theme for International Women’s Day 2014 is inspiring change so the awards this year will celebrate the achievements of women whose ideas and influence inspire social, political or economic change.”

Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of judges including event founders HBWN president Kelly Lamb and Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams, as well as inaugural 2012 Hastings Heroine and president of the Hastings Women and Children’s Refuge Lesley Tierney.
The Hastings Heroines event will be held on Friday 7 March at the CWA waterfront function hall and will raise much needed funding for the ongoing refurbishment for the Port Macquarie Hastings Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Support (formerly the Hastings Women and Children’s Refuge).
The cocktail evening will feature exciting guest speakers, entertainment and more than $3000 worth of prizes up for grabs through a raffle and other fundraising activities. Last year’s event attracted more than 120 people and raised $6000 for the refuge. Tickets for this popular event are available now at www.hbwn.com.au
