HASTINGS residents have been urged to give dragon boat racing a go this weekend.
Port Macquarie dragon boating club the Flamin’ Dragons is conducting a come-and-try dragon boating day this Saturday 15 February.
“If you have ever wondered what it would be like to paddle in a 12-metre-long boat with 21 other people, or if you have seen the dragon boats out on the river and wondered what it would be like to give the sport a go, here is your chance,” a spokesperson said.
“The Flamin’ Dragons cater for everybody, from juniors aged 12 and over to men and women of all ages, ranging from those who paddle just for enjoyment and the social side to competitive women’s and mixed teams who train hard and travel throughout NSW and even nationally to race in regattas.
“Paddling is great exercise and the qualified coaches assist paddlers to participate in a great team sport which helps build general fitness while also having fun.”
The come-and-try day kicks off at 9am – meet at the Flamin’ Dragons boat shed at the marina (Westport park side).
