ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD Port Macquarie girl Alana Fletcher will make a big sacrifice for a great cause on Sunday 30 March.
Alana will be having her head shaved alongside her uncle Darren Harman, who has had long hair for 20 years, for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
“I will be holding the shave event at Lighthouse Plaza on 30 March at 10am and I hope that this event helps me to reach my target of $2000,” Alana said.
“The reason I am doing this is to help those with leukaemia and their families as we are both also donating our hair so wigs can be made for those that have lost their hair.
“I have had amazing support so far, starting with all the donations people have given to me and also Steve from Fab Photos for taking before and after photos, also Nuri, who is the centre manager of Lighthouse Plaza and has allowed us to hold the event there with no hesitation.”
Alana said she would love as many people as possible to support her and her uncle by turning up to see them lose their hair.
“If you come along in person to see the hair come off you can make a donation, but if you cannot make that you can go to World’s Greatest Shave website and sponsor us online. Just go to sponsor a shaver and type in Alana Fletcher or my uncle’s name, then donate the chosen amount.”
The website address for the World’s Greatest Shave is www.worldsgreatestshave.com
