TUESDAY 18 March: Today’s event was a single stableford with a field of 128 starters and visitors from Highlands and Pennant Hills golf clubs. A Grade: 1st Bill Gates 39 points on a countback, runner-up Gary Nelson 39. B Grade: Alan Gleeson 44, runner-up Ron Callaghan 39. C1 Grade: Russell Dawson 42, runner-up Warren Smith 40. C2 Grade: Ian Paterson 38, runner-up John Turner 37. NTP: 5th Gary Nelson and John Beresford, 7th Bob Bassett and Craig Jennings, 13th Bill Shepard and Michael Stewart Pearse, 16th Robert Taylor and Lionel Bryson. Ball rundown 36 points. Next week’s event is the March monthly medal.
PORT LADIES
PORT Macquarie Lady Golfers played a 2BBB event with singles in conjunction on Wednesday. Trophies for the day were kindly donated by the Port Macquarie Golf Club. The field of 121 revelled in the conditions and some great scores were achieved. Best on the day was Jo Ireland’s amazing 44 – well done Jo and congratulations on winning the Fredo’s all-in NTP on 5th as well.
The 2BBB winners were Robyn Linn and Catherine Ditchfield with 47, while Kathleen Felstead and Di Ratjens combined well to be runners-up with 45. This was on a countback as several teams were pleased to record 45s. The division one winner was Patricia Gunn 40 points on a countback from Carol White. Maree Clews with 36 won division two and Sandra Lysaught was runner-up with 35. In division three Joan Sullivan had a fantastic round of 41 and Zoe McWhirter was runner-up with 35 (after a countback). Jo Ireland won division four and Catherine Ditchfield was runner-up with 39. NTP: Betty Dunn, Denise Franklin and Jo Ireland. Mary Oxley was nearest on the 16th while Wendy Gordon was the all-in winner.

Friday’s showery weather meant there were a number of cancellations but 61 golfers played a single stableford and their scores did not seem to be affected. Loretta Organ mastered the conditions to score a fabulous 39. The trophy donors for the day were Zoe McWhirter, Gaylene Patterson, Carol White and Kathy Felstead. Winners: Division one Julie Lidgard 35, runner-up Addie Carberry 34. NTP: 5th Julianne Stace. Division two Loretta Organ 39, runner-up Lilian Smith 35. NTP: 5th Kathleen Felstead. Division three Marie Horan 35, runner-up Kim Stonestreet 34. NTP: 5th Zoe McWhirter (for the fourth time this month) and Marie Horan.
HASTINGS LADIES
HASTINGS ladies played their final round of stroke play and the Hastings Trophy event on Monday 24 March with 27 starters. The winner of division one (1-18) was Pam Tye with 35 nett and the runner-up was Marie Holloway with 37. In division two (19-26) the winner was Rose Buckley with 31 and the runner-up was Robyn Cobban with 32. In division three (27) the winner was Liz Lewis with 34 and the runner-up was Reta Maguire with 37. The NTP on the 9th was Bev Hudson and a gobbler was recorded by Narell Quinn on the 9th.
