HUNDREDS of people turned out for a fun day of bowls last week in the annual Mayor’s Sporting Fund Bowls Challenge.
Held at the Port City Bowling Club on Friday, the event attracted a weird and wonderful assortment of teams, attired in anything from Mexican ponchos to chef’s hat.
The final fund-raising tally was not yet available at the time of going to press, but all contestants gave the day a big thumbs up.
“Not sure how we went in the bowling, but it was great day of fun,” one contestant said afterwards.
The major prizes went to Port Macquarie Golf, Port City Travel and the Salvos.
