Early birds don’t miss a beat

PORT Macquarie-Hastings Council has presented the winners of the Choose Your Bin early bird draw with their new Apple iPad.
Paul and Denise Weber of Lake Innes were among thousands who registered their new bin service online before the close of business on 16 April, which automatically entered them into the draw to win the prize.
The council’s development and environment director Matt Rogers presented them with their prize last Tuesday morning.
Mrs Weber thanked the council for the great prize – adding that her friends were a tad jealous.
Last month, the council sent information on the new waste collection service to more than 28,000 ratepayers, explaining the three new red bin waste service options available: a 140-litre fortnightly Minimiser service, a 240-litre fortnightly Standard service and a 240-litre weekly Excess service.
Residents who did not register by the end of April will automatically receive the service corresponding to the one they currently receive.
