PORT Macquarie Leslie Williams has been promoted to the role of Parliamentary Secretary for Renewable Energy, following the appointment of Premier Mike Baird’s new cabinet.
The promotion makes Ms Williams the first Port Macquarie MP to serve in a Coalition Government executive role for almost 20 years.
“I am honoured and proud to have been appointed the Parliamentary Secretary for Renewable Energy,” Ms Williams said.
“I have always been a strong supporter of renewable energy in all of its forms and welcome the opportunity to embrace the role. I am keen to continue the good work that this government has already demonstrated, particularly with renewable energy helping to combat electricity prices.”
Ms Williams said she looked forward to building upon the government’s strong record on delivering for communities and was proud of its commitment to improving services across the state.
Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner said Ms Williams’ appointment was a fantastic achievement, made all the more impressive by her track record of delivering for her community since being elected to the NSW Parliament in 2011.
“Leslie has clearly demonstrated that she is passionate about her electorate and that will obviously flow on to this important role as Parliamentary Secretary,” he said.
“This appointment shows the level of faith that the Premier and I have in Leslie’s abilities.”
“Leslie is an outstanding member of the community and is a strong advocate for her electorate and other regional and rural communities.
“This is a fantastic achievement for Leslie and I am sure she’ll do a great job.”
