THIS year the contribution volunteers make in our community was recognised with the inaugural Community Volunteer Awards, organised by the Port Macquarie Neighbourhood Centre and Volunteer Centre.
“Volunteers are the cornerstone of our community and are vital to raising awareness of the not-for- profit sector,” Port Macquarie Neighbourhood and Volunteer Centre co-ordinator Beck Miles said.
“The PMNC Community Volunteer Awards acknowledged individuals and teams in our community for their valuable and selfless commitment to innovation, dedication and contribution.
“The awards recognise the work of volunteers who have worked together on a particular project or program for not-for-profit organisation, community groups.”
Ms Miles said senior volunteers nominated had a total combined aged of 831 years and contributed a combined total of 118 hours of volunteering time per week.
Four sponsors came on board for the inaugural awards and as a result each winner received a cheque for $250.
