PORT Macquarie-Hastings residents have been invited to get creative as part of the council’s annual Osmosis Photography and Poetry competition.
Entries for the competition opened last Friday. This year’s theme is Water Sources – there are more than you think! and prizes are on offer in several categories.
Entrants are invited to explore this topic both as a celebration of the clean water here in the Hastings and as a reminder that water is borrowed from nature and will eventually be returned to nature.
Project officer Kim Freeman said the Osmosis project aimed to raise awareness about the amount of water used in everyday tasks, as a first step in developing a responsible approach to water use and to promote positive action in the community to care for this most precious resource.
Entrants of all ages are eligible to enter but must be residents of the Hastings local government area.
Up to $700 in prize-money is up for grabs and the winners will be announced on Sunday 19 October as part of National Water Week. A selection of words and images from the competition will be featured in the 2015 Osmosis Calendar – The Source.
Entries close on Friday 1 August. This year entries will only be accepted online at www.pmhc.nsw.gov.au/osmosis
