ALZHEIMER’S Australia NSW is holding a free education session for families and friends who care for a person who is living with an intellectual disability and showing signs of dementia.

Community grants
DEPUTY Premier and Oxley MP Andrew Stoner is calling for grant applications for local community infrastructure projects through the 2014 Community Building Partnership.
“The 2014 Community Building Partnership Grants are open to incorporated not-for-profit bodies such as charities, sporting, social and environmental groups and to local councils to apply,” Mr Stoner said.
Applications open on 9 June 2014 and close on 18 July 2014.
Projects are required to be completed before 31 March 2016.

Swimwell again
SWIMWELL Pty Ltd has won the contract for the management and operation of all four public pools in Port Macquarie-Hastings Council area.
The council has resolved to award the contract for the pools in Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton and Kendall to Swimwell for a period of 60 months from 1 July.
Swimwell is the current contractor at Port Macquarie Swimming Pool.
Aged care talks
FEDERAL Lyne MP Dr David Gillespie has met with the minister responsible for aged care, Federal Assistant Minister for Social Services Mitch Fifield, to discuss the growing demands on the aged care sector.
Dr Gillespie spoke about the broad range of challenges confronting aged care services.
“Minister Fifield was pleased to be informed of the experiences I have highlighted across the Lyne electorate in relation to aged care services and he indicated he was happy to come to the electorate at some stage in the future,” Dr Gillespie said.
Tourism funding
Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams is encouraging local tourism providers to apply for a share of more than $7 million worth of NSW Government funding under the Regional Visitor Economy Fund.
Mrs Williams said the NSW Government is calling for applications that could benefit from a greater investment in regional tourism products and services.

Heritage input sought
PORT Macquarie-Hastings Council’s newly established Heritage, Arts and Culture Priorities Advisory Group (HACPAG) has held its first meeting.
HACPAG’s primary objective is to represent and enhance the profile of heritage, arts and culture. Councillors Sargeant and Intemann are keen to hear from groups about their respective initiatives.

Bonny toilets
WORK should soon be finished on new toilets at the Bonny Hills Community Hall Reserve.
The need for toilet facilities to service this reserve was identified during development of the Bonny Hills Reserves Masterplan.
The amenity will consist of one unisex accessible toilet and one unisex ambulant disability toilet and will benefit people using the skate park and playground as well as the general reserve.
