THERE was much to celebrate at the VIEW club zone conference held recently in Port Macquarie.
Jeanie Clark from Port Macquarie Evening Club was presented with her 50-year membership from VIEW Club national vice-president June Greentree. Jeanie joined VIEW IN 1964 in Blakehurst, Sydney, then Port Macquarie Evening in 1988, and was thrilled at the recognition.
“VIEW has been an integral part of my life with wonderful friendships and I have been so proud to support the Smith Family in all of their worthwhile projects to assist disadvantaged Australian families,” she said.
Other worthy recipients of recognition were her daughter, past national councillor Cheryl Corbett, who was presented with her 20-year membership, and Ruth Dragos her 10-year membership.
The conference was chaired by zone councillor Suzanne Wells of Kempsey and was attended by 66 members from the nine clubs on the Mid North Coast.
Guest speakers on the day were national councillor Dawn Sage, who congratulated local clubs on sponsoring 36 students in the Smith Family Learning for Life program.
Hastings Citizen of the year Allyson Costanzo gave an inspiring presentation on her work in the community for those deaf and blind.
VIEW stands for voice, interest and education of women.
