Public appeal after sex attack

POLICE are appealing for public assistance after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at Port Macquarie last week.
About 6pm on Wednesday 25 June a 46-year-old woman attended a licensed premises near the corner of Emerald Drive and Ocean Drive.
Detectives have been told the woman left the location alone about 10.30pm and was walking along Ocean Drive when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown person and forced into nearby bushland.
It’s alleged the woman was sexually assaulted.
Officers attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command were contacted and launched an investigation.
The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for further assessment.
A crime scene was established and examined by detectives and specialist forensic officers.
Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
