ORGANISERS of Tastings on Hastings 2014 are on the lookout for people with a passion for food and fun to help make the event on Sunday 26 October a success.
At least 100 volunteers are needed to assist with ticketing at the event entry points, helping people find their way around the event, in the information tent, collecting survey responses and as part of the recycling team.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Mayor Peter Besseling said the council had been proudly presenting this much loved community event for more than a decade and encouraged the community to continue to support the event in its 12th year.
“It’s always wonderful to see the excellent volunteering spirit of the members of our community who come out in force every year to support Tastings on Hastings,” councillor Besseling said.
Event co-ordinator Necia Waghorn said every volunteer would receive an apron and hat in recognition of their involvement, thanks to Volunteer Sponsor Hastings Co-Op.
“The main incentive is also to be part of and support a wonderful community event and have some fun at the same time,” Ms Waghorn said.
“By coming on board as part of the Hastings Co-Op volunteer team, you will be helping us celebrate and support the fantastic farming, fresh produce, gourmet produce, wines, beers, chefs, restaurants and cafes of the Hastings region.
“Volunteers will work alongside community groups, event staff and organisers and will play a key role in helping the event run smoothly, not to mention showcasing the amazing community spirit of the Hastings.
“We’ll be running a volunteer induction session before the event to give our volunteers all the information they need and we’ll ensure the rosters give our volunteers plenty of time to enjoy the event on the day.
“We’re particularly grateful to the Hastings Co-op who have signed up as the volunteer sponsor.”
