PROGRESS on the Wauchope District Memorial Hospital’s purpose-built Urgent Care Centre has been given the official thumbs up.
Deputy Premier and Member for Oxley Andrew Stoner toured the hospital site and was able to see firsthand the works that have been delivered on the project so far.
The centre – which has been running from an interim location within the hospital since early March – will replace the Emergency Department with operating hours from 8am to 6pm seven days per week.
“The new UCC will provide appropriate health care to the community of Wauchope and nearby towns, with support for high level care from Port Macquarie Base Hospital,” Mr Stoner said.
“The layout and design enables the very best patient care and patient experience to be provided in modern, therapeutic surroundings.
“I’m very much looking forward to the opening of the purpose-built centre which is one of two major infrastructure projects to soon come online at Wauchope.
“At the rear of the hospital, a brand new eight-bed $2.4 million Palliative Care Unit is due to welcome patients from the mid July.
“The Liberal/Nationals Government is committed to providing the very best health facilities for local communities across the state and these projects are perfect examples.”
