CHILDHOOD obesity campaigners Reggie Veggie and Soft Drink Suzy will deliver an important message to the municipality’s children this month.
The characters are part of a colourful performance designed by Seddon resident Gavin Draper to highlight childhood obesity.
The 30-minute performance teaches children about the dangers of too much junk food and soft drink, and emphasises the qualities of vegetables, water and play.
After spending more than two decades in the hospitality industry as a chef, Mr Draper said he wanted to make a difference in children’s diets.
“I wanted a very simple concept that children could understand,” he said.
“I want to get the message out there to eat better and get out and play.”
Mr Draper said that at the conclusion of the performance there would be giveaways, healthy recipes and a small munch for children and their parents.
Reggie Veggie’s Munch at Lunch is a free community event and will be held at the Dancing Dog Cafe in Footscray on Saturday 20 October from noon. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register their interest by contacting Mr Draper on 0412 777 066.
