The rejuvenation of Tacking Point Lighthouse Reserve is moving forward as Port Macquarie-Hastings Council reviews community feedback on a plan of management for the popular tourist area.
The draft Tacking Point Lighthouse Reserve Masterplan will be reviewed by Council following onsite community engagement on the future of the site and a public exhibition that attracted 12 submissions.
The community supported proposals to provide an accessible ramp linking the carpark to a viewing platform and the lighthouse surrounds, improved pedestrian facilities along Lighthouse Road, installation of traffic calming devices, bike racks and water drinking stations at the reserve.
Installation of crime prevention surveillance was canvassed but has not been supported at this time.
Council will now determine the priority works and associated cost estimates.
