Firies attended to a house fire in Cecil Baldwin Cl, West Kempsey about 9.30pm on Thursday night, April 26. The house was engulfed in smoke.
Officers found the sole occupant, a 21-year-old male, unconscious on the bathroom floor with the shower running.
Fire crews carried the victim from the house and began resuscitation attempts. The victim quickly regained consciousness and Ambulance staff began treatment.
He was conveyed to the Kempsey Hospital via Ambulance. The victim did not suffer burns but was placed on a respirator, due to heavy smoke inhalation.
The house fire was extinguished and upon inspection by the fire officer in charge, Tony Hackenberg, and Police the point of ignition was clearly visible at the refrigerator.
It is estimated there was $30,000 worth of damage. The 21-year-old male was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital at 5am with smoke inhalation and observations for a head injury.
