Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a five-year-old boy was seriously injured in a fall at Coffs Harbour on Friday.
The boy was with his grandparents on the wooden jetty at the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore about 3.45pm when it appears he slipped through the railing and fell about six metres on to wet sand.
His grandparents immediately ran to his aid and emergency services were called with paramedics treating the boy on the scene before taking him to Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
He has suffered a fractured femur and head injuries and has been transferred to the Sydney Children’s Hospital where he is in a critical condition.
Police are treating the incident as a tragic accident and are trying to piece together exactly how the boy fell to the sand below.
