The $2 million reconstruction on King Creek Road began this week.
A significant section of the road, which is a major thoroughfare for the large residential settlement south-east of Wauchope, will be widened and rebuilt.
According to Council’s Acting Director of Infra-structure Services Gary Randall, the new road will improve traffic flow as well as make driving more comfortable and safe for motorists.
“The work will involve the renewal and strengthening of 1.7 kilometres of road pavement, including the recycling of existing road base materials.
“Improvements will also be made to drainage and the traffic island at Sarahs Crescent and a cycleway will be built on either side of the new road,” said Mr Randall.
The significant project will take around six months to complete, with works scheduled to finish in September 2011, weather permitting. There will be some delays during the construction works and mobile traffic signals will be in operation during work hours, along with traffic controllers in place at specific locations to assist motorists and maintain flow of traffic.
“Council staff appreciate the patience and cooperation of the community during the delivery of these essential and substantial road renewal works,” concluded Mr Randall.
