The inaugural Day of Respect in Kempsey has been postponed until 2013. However, as a little taster, there’s big things planned for the youth of Kempsey in December.
Due to clashes with other important community events on the proposed November 10 date and to enable organisers to have ample time for fundraising efforts, the management committee, in consultation with the Kempsey District Hospital and CareFlight, has decided that it would be best to reschedule the event until 2013. The exact date will be announced at a later date.
Have you ever said or heard someone say, “We have to do something to get these young people off the street and give them something to do?”
Well here is your chance to help.
On Saturday, December 15, a youth event like you’ve never seen before is coming to Kempsey. Some of the activities are top secret, but what you are allowed to know is there will be a barbecue, skate competition, soccer, giant slide, music, greasy pole pillow fights, dancers, art work and more. How much more depends on the support organisers can get from the public.
Your mission is to help show the youth of Kempsey, our future, that the community cares. There are plenty of ways the community can help in this drug-free, alcohol-free, and zero tolerance event.
There are a number of ways you can help. You can sponsor an activity for the night, as Powerful Son Revolution has done with the Giant Slide. Or you could put your business name on a trophy or medal. Maybe you could donate a prize for one of the competitions or donate food or drink for the night.
Whatever your support, it will be gratefully appreciated and an investment in the future of this great community.
Sponsors so far include Mission Australia, PCYC, Powerful Son Revolution and the Kempsey Shire Council.
