Local Olympic gun, James (The Missile) Magnussen, took out a silver medal in the 100m freestyle final last Thursday.
About 1000 residents crammed the Town Green from 4.30am to cheer on the champion swimmer on home turf.
Magnussen’s medal tally comes to two, with the silver and a bronze medal under his belt.
The bronze was secured when The Missile swam alongside James Roberts, Eamon Sullivan and Matt Targett in the 400m individual medley.
Hastings rower Tess Gerrand missed out on a medal in the women’s eight event, but she still has the backing of local fans and family.
The Paralympics will kick off later this month where local wheelchair rugby player Ryley Batt and wheelchair tennis player Janel Manns are set to compete.
