Meet the NSW State election candidates at an evening at Port Macquarie Library.
The Friends of Port Macquarie Library will host the event on Wednesday, March 16 from 6.30pm to 8pm.
“The focus for the evening will be on libraries, Council run and primary, secondary and tertiary school libraries and their funding, not only for physical resources but also staffing and literacy programs,” says Judith Hansen, Friends of Port Macquarie Library President.
“Friends of Libraries care about libraries and value the right to read for everyone in our community.
“State government contributions to public library resources have been falling over the past decade yet public libraries are so important in ensuring the ongoing success of any literacy program offered by any level of government.
“We are delighted that all declared candidates to date will be joining us for the evening to discuss libraries, literacy and other related issues.”
Interested members of the public including librarians, library users and school teachers are encouraged to come along and meet the candidates. Cameron Marshall from ABC local radio will be the moderator for the evening. Enquiries to Judith Hansen on 6582 7932.
