New alliance puts future first

An alliance has been formed in the region to support the federal government’s Clean Energy Future package.  Called the Mid-North Coast Climate Alliance (‘the Alliance’), it brings together Climate Change Australia (Hastings Branch), Wauchope Uniting Church, Unions Hastings Macleay and the Australian Youth Climate Coalition.
Spokesperson Harry Creamer said the Alliance supports Parliament taking action that will provide assistance to low and middle income families and businesses, create new job opportunities and put a price on carbon pollution as a driver of investment in the renewable energy sector.
The Alliance has written a statement which details ways the Clean Energy Future package will benefit the mid-north coast community.  These include lifting the tax-free threshold for those on lower incomes, including casual, part-time and younger workers, as well as retirees doing casual work or with other income.
