$2.3m for road resurfacing

One of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council administration’s the final decisions, secures a road resurfacing program worth $2.3 million.
Administrator Neil Porter said the program includes more than $1 million of work on resealing Pacific Drive, as well as work to Cameron Street Wauchope, Ocean Drive in Lake Cathie and Lorne Road in Comboyne.
The report presented to Council highlights the decision making process for the reseal program and provides detailed analysis of the expected lifespan of bitumen resealing.
“Importantly the report also very clearly identifies that resealing will not avoid all potholes and doesn’t improve the strength of the road pavement, it is a preventative maintenance activity. It is unfortunate that this type of work has not been consistently carried out over the last decade but the program for this year represents a strategic approach to committing to this maintenance.
“I encourage all members of the public to read this report in the Council business papers, as it will help them understand the complexities of balancing technical specifications, limited budgets and roads in desperate need of maintenance,” said Mr Porter.
