A man has been charged with attempted murder after attacking two men, one with a bow and arrow, at a home near Kempsey.
About 10am on Sunday a 42-year-old man was caring for his 93-year-old grandfather at a property at Aldavilla.
Police will allege that a 46-year-old man attacked the grandfather and was restrained by the 42-year-old who was able to force him from the home.
The offender continued to shout threats at the two men inside the premises.
The man then attempted to secure all the windows and doors of the house to keep the assailant out.
As he attempted to close and lock a bedroom window, an arrow was fired through it, narrowly missing him.
Police were contacted and officers from the Mid-North Coast Local Area Command responded and arrested the 46-year-old man without incident.
Police established a crime scene and the premises will be further examined this week.
The 46-year-old man was taken to Kempsey Police Station and charged with attempt murder.
He was refused bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court.
