Residents in Wauchope will now be able to join their counterparts in the Camden Haven area and receive a free Busways bus pass to travel to Port Macquarie to donate blood.
Locals who wish to donate blood can also travel to Port Macquarie on the bus for free on the day they are giving blood, thanks to the generosity of Busways.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said, “This is a very good program which has been in place for people in the Camden Haven for the past couple of years.
“When I spoke to local Busways Manager, Tom Burton, about expanding the service he didn’t hesitate in offering to assist.”
All you have to do is contact the Australian Red Cross in Port Macquarie on 131495 for further details.
The Australian Red Cross Youth Ambassador program also commenced youth training on Wednesday at Port Macquarie Panthers.
Up to 20 students attended the day-long event which offered local school students an insight into community leadership, social responsibility, marketing, project management and the important role of blood donors.
The theme of this year’s program is Donate for Life, highlighting the importance of making regular blood donations as part of your everyday life.
“Between the Youth Ambassador program and the offer by Busways there are plenty of reasons for people to consider being a blood donor in the Hastings,” Mrs Williams said.
