A Family History Fair with a difference is being held in Port Macquarie this weekend, exposing the bones of less known resources available.
Dubbed Digging a Bit Deeper, the event will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 9am to 4pm in the Renaissance and Rushcutter Rooms at Port Panthers.
Speakers will highlight interesting family history topics including items held by State Records, Australian Joint Copying Project, information buried deep within Trove, and the offerings of country newspapers.
There will be a plethora of exciting exhibitors and the event will also see the launch of the Society’s new publications – Harvesting the Hastings : Farming Families; Breaking up of the Convict Establishment at Port Macquarie; Sydney Gaol Records for Port Macquarie Convicts; Port Macquarie General Cemetery transcriptions and Images; and Port Macquarie & Districts Cemeteries, Cremations & Memorials.
A super raffle will be held on site. Entry is $10 (including all speaker sessions).
