A critical incident investigation has begun into a fatal single-vehicle crash near Taree on Sunday morning.
Shortly before 1.30am, police attached to Manning-Great Lakes Local Area Command were conducting speed enforcement duties on the Pacific Highway at Nabiac. When officers saw a south-bound Toyota Hilux utility being driven erratically, police activated their lights, however, a pursuit had not been initiated before the utility left the road and rolled.
The male driver, believed to be aged in his 20s, died at the scene.
The driver is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene has been established and a critical incident investigation by a team from Mid-North Coast Local Area Command is now underway into the circumstances surr-ounding the crash.
