Armed robbery at club

An armed robbery has taken place at a club in South Kempsey.
About 6pm on Tuesday, May 15, two men working at a licensed club on the Pacific Highway were in the process of closing the premises when they were confronted by four males, all of whom were wearing hooded-jumpers and scarves which covered their faces.
The males, two of whom were armed with knives, forced the staff members into the main bar area and demanded they hand over their wallets and car keys.
The males then demanded access to the business’s safe, threatening to stab the staff members if they did not oblige. The staff members complied with the demand, and an amount of cash was stolen from the safe.
The males then tried, unsuccessfully, to force open a poker machine and an ATM inside the club, before stealing one of the staff member’s cars and fleeing the scene.
Police were called and immediately attended the location, where a crime scene was established.
Detectives from Kempsey Police Station are investigating the incident and would like to speak to anyone who may have information that will assist police inquiries.
The four males involved in the robbery are all described as being aged in their late teens or early twenties. Three of them are of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, the other of Caucasian appearance. At the time of the incident, one of the men was wearing black canvas shoes with a pink trim.
The group were last seen in a stolen white Ford Falcon sedan with NSW registration plate number VVL-768.
Anyone with information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
