Dedicated volunteers receiving honours

Twenty-five Oxley State Emergency Service (SES) region volunteers will be put in the spotlight as they receive various NSW SES and national long service awards at the inaugural Oxley SES region awards dinner this Saturday.
About 150 Oxley region volunteers, staff and family of the award recipients will congratulate the dedicated volunteer members who, between them, have served their communities across NSW in times of emergencies, many for more than 30 years.
Special guests at the event held at Spinnakers Restaurant will include Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams, Port Macquarie Hastings Council Administrator Neil Porter and SES Deputy Commissioner Steven Pearce.
SES volunteers are being recognised on or around National SES Week from November 7-13  for their efforts in serving the community, with 549,803 hours spent across NSW responding to storms, floods and other emergencies.
Oxley Region has 11 local SES units spanning from Gloucester and Taree in the south to South West Rocks in the north and includes Lord Howe Island.
Oxley Region Controller Peter Floyd said the region has over 400 volunteer members ready to assist their communities in times of storms, floods and tsunamis, supported by a permanent staff of seven and “this is a wonderful opportunity to get so many of our members together to celebrate their efforts”.
