Traditionally Easter holidays have been dubbed a busy time for fraudsters.
Neville Parsons, CEO of Holiday Coast Credit Union, said he is constantly hearing of cases where people are handing over their PIN or password, or sending money overseas to people they have never met, seemingly without a second thought.
Mr Parsons said never hand over your PIN, password or personal banking details to anyone, ensure your details are up-to-date and never send money to someone you don’t know or don’t know how to contact.
He said always check the ATM before use to ensure that it looks normal and in particular, that there are no additional devices, destroy your bills, check your banking and credit card statements regularly and stay vigilant.
