Port Macquarie High School’s students and staff took to Lighthouse Beach recently to walk or run the 10 kilometres to Lake Cathie to raise much needed funds for the school.
Several members of staff including the Principal Mark Longstaff ran the course and inspired a group of students to jog with them along the 10 km of the beautiful beach.
The day was organised by the school’s P&C whose volunteer members provided lunch and refreshments on the beach at Lake Cathie.
Students were sponsored by family and friends and were encouraged by $5 vouchers for every $15 raised.
The vouchers can be cashed in at local businesses who supported the event.
This year’s theme was the ‘Olympics’ and while no torch was on display the Olympic rings did make an appearance.
Several lightning bolts were also observed.
Many dressed in various ‘Olympic’ costumes for the occasion.
