THIS Sunday 4 May the Global Food Garden in Kendall is celebrating its second anniversary – and the public is invited to join them.
The party kicks off at 9am and everyone is welcome. Refreshments, cakes, morning tea, light lunch and homemade snacks are available, as well as plants and local produce.
Live music and singing will keep all entertained while they wander around the gardens, browse the stalls, take cuttings or seedlings, check out the local produce, or join in with any of the activities on offer.
Those attending can attend pot-painting sessions, face painting, admire the orchard, or join a cooking demonstration. Learn the names and uses of the variety of exotic global vegetables that thrive in this climate. At present, the garden is lush with Asian and Australian bush tucker plants and edible plants from all over the world.
At noon, local resident Tin Hta Nu will demonstrate her skills in Asian and Middle East cooking using the vegetables from the garden, so get there early because there is limited space and numbers.
Visit the unique Make, Bake and Swap Table where garden produce, hand-made crafts or home-baked food can be exchanged with others.
The Global Food Garden is a non-profit, community-based venture. It can be found nestled between the Kendall Hall and CTC building.
