LOOKING for an event you can really dig this weekend?
Check-out the Big Dig this Saturday in Port Macquarie, an annual family event organised by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Port Macquarie.
This is the third year the event will have been run, and it has been extremely successful for the past two years.
Rotary spokesperson Ivana Agapio said volunteers spend countless hours preparing the family event, which is held each year the day before the Port Macquarie Ironman race.
“It provides locals and visitors with a much needed family fun,” she said.
“Every child who is registered and digs for a token wins a prize, and the major Big Dig is a lucky dip for the more adventurous adults.
“Local businesses have again been extremely generous and provided great gifts and rewards.
“Besides the popular cupcake stand, all-day breakfast and of course the dig, this year there are new stalls and new activities, ranging from fortune telling to dangling doughnut competitions.”
The event will be opened by Big Dog at 10am sharp, followed by the dunking of the mayor and some of his crew as a charity fund-raiser.
“The dig commences at 11am, but we recommend that people register early because tickets sell fast,” Ms Agapio said.
“It costs $5 per dig for kids and $30 for the Big Dig.
“Registrations will be available from 9am on Town Beach. Don’t forget your pirate gear.”
