THIS Sunday will be your last chance to see one of the Hastings’ best musicians in action in his long-time role.
Glenn Moore will direct his final concert as musical director of the Senior Concert Band after 16 years at the helm.
The band is part of the Hastings Municipal Band and Mr Moore retires with an outstanding record of successes in state band championships and east coast championships.
His last performance will fittingly be an upbeat one – in a stirring variety concert at the Port Macquarie Uniting Church in Sherwood Road kicking off at 2pm on Sunday.
“The sparkling music in this concert matches the Senior Concert Band’s top standing as the NSW C Grade concert band champions,” band spokesperson Keith Bergin said.
“Music will range from stirring marches and traditional concert band numbers to movie music (Skyfall), jazz (St Louis Blues) and popular music (Billy Joel medley).
“Top duo pop singers Amanda Gordon and Ian Castle will also sing solos including The Rhythm of Life and Baby It’s Cold Outside.”
Cameron Marshall of ABC Port Macquarie will be the MC for the afternoon.
Door admission for the 6 April performance is only $10 for adults and $2 for children. Booking is not required – just turn up ready to have a great time.
