DR HOOK is coming to town.
Well, to be more precise, Dennis Locorriere in the show Dr Hook and Beyond, which is on at the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie on 6 May.
Locorriere was a founding member, lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for the internationally popular, multi-million-selling music group, Dr Hook.
In the 15 years the band was together Locorriere and Dr Hook toured all around the world, playing to record-breaking crowds and receiving gold and platinum singles and albums everywhere they went. Their songs like Sylvia’s Mother, Walk right in, The Wild Colonial Boy, Sexy Eyes, When you’re in love with a beautiful woman, Sharing the night together, Baby makes her blue jeans talk were all top 10 around the world, with the first three reaching number one in Australia.
The band did its farewell tour with Locorriere on vocals in the late 1980s, but it was just the beginning of what he has accomplished in his long and colourful career since. The talented musician penned songs have been recorded by artists such as Helen Reddy, Lou Rawls, B.J. Thomas, Olivia Newton-John, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.
As a solo artist, Locorriere has played at countless prestigious venues and festivals and has released three critically acclaimed albums, as well as a top-charting concert DVD and a well received book of poetry and cartoons.
Locorriere continues to tour, bringing his unmistakable voice, sparking musicianship, engaging personality and natural sense of humour to the concert stage, garnering rave reviews.
His latest one-man show takes his audience, in story and song, through his entire career, performing popular sections form his Hook days as well as new favourites from his solo albums. The audience leaves the concert hall feeling as if they’ve known the man their whole lives, or at the very least, wishing they had.
This will be Locorriere’s first tour in Australia since 2005 and he looks forward to performing in front of fans old and new as he takes his audience on a trip through his years with Dr Hook and beyond.
