Rotary books store

IF you cannot make it to the book sale, don’t forget that Rotary has a temporary book store at 111 William Street, which is open Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am until 4pm. The owner of the Book Warehouse in Port Macquarie which closed earlier this year donated all the leftover books to Rotary to sell, hence the temporary Rotary-manned bookstore. This store can operate for only another few weeks, so get in and seize the opportunity while you can.

Keeping the good work coming
ORGANISATIONS Port Macquarie Rotary has helped in recent years include Meals on Wheels, the SES, Marine Rescue, surf clubs, Hastings Mental Health Support Group, Hastings Palliative Care, Willing & Able Foundation, Motor Neurone Support Group Port Macquarie, Mid North Coast Special Olympics Committee and the koala hospital.
They also sponsor local youth to participate in the youth exchange, youth leadership awards, model United Nations assemblies and national youth science forums.
On a national community health awareness level, the club provides assistance with volunteers with a Bowelscan Stall at Port Central for eight days at the beginning of May (each year). They also contribute funds to Australian Rotary Health – the largest not-for-profit health research foundation in Australia.
At an international level, Port Macquarie Rotary provides financial assistance to the Rotary Foundation and in particular to the eradication of polio worldwide. They are also closely involved in the Rotary Australia World Community Service, which operates many community assistance programs on the island of Tanna in Vanuatu including hospitals, schools, water projects and other self-help initiatives.
Approximately three-quarters of funds raised goes to local projects.

Alive and well in the Hastings
