Dance talent intersects

Erin Tunbridge - back from the US for a special performance.

HOME-GROWN talent will be celebrated when local dance artist Erin Tunbridge performs with the Zeta Dance Group and ClancyWorks Dance Company next month.
Zeta and ClancyWorks will intersect Australian and American dance in a one-night-only show called Intersections.
Originally from Laurieton, Erin is now the artistic director of the Zeta Dance Group and has been working with the ClancyWorks Dance Company in Washington DC since 2012.
In April both groups performed together in DC and New York and they will be presenting Intersections as the culmination of this cultural exchange.
The dancers will explore themes of identity, ambition, relationships and social trends, with a few local stories thrown in.
Erin grew up in the Camden Haven area and went to Camden Haven High School.
“Apart from Malaysia when I was three years old I had never lived overseas,” she said.
In May of 2012 she completed her masters degree and decided to move to the US for a year to expand as a choreographer, teacher and arts manager.
“I had no job prospects and left behind my work, my family and friends, and Zeta Dance Group – a dance collective that I had established in 2008,” she said.
“I was nervous and never thought it would lead me to where I am today.
“After a week, I found a job working at ClancyWorks Dance Company in Washington DC where I have been working with ever since.
“Through my job I was able to network in DC, Baltimore, Virginia, and New York and expanded my skills dramatically.
“In April 2014 I co-ordinated an international tour and my dancers of Zeta Dance Group (Brisbane) came to Washington DC and New York to perform alongside ClancyWorks Dance Company.
“To continue this cultural exchange, I am now co-ordinating a tour for the American dancers of ClancyWorks Dance Company to come to Australia performing in Brisbane and my home town of Port Macquarie.”
