MORE than 100 guests enjoyed the luxury of a high tea at the Rollands Plains School of Arts Hall on Sunday.
Attendees paid $20 a head and Alzheimer’s Australia and the Rollands Plains Community Group shared the proceeds of the day equally.
The theme was ‘country’ so the hall was bedecked with all types of country bric-a-brac and quilts and a folksy chandelier of preserving jars hung from the walls and rafters.
Residents of Rollands Plains added to the look by bringing out their fine china and a magnificent array of quirky and/or elegant teapots.
Michelle Higgins, who was the catalyst for the high tea, spoke on the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease and the need to support organisations such as Alzheimer’s Australia.
She and her tireless team put in a terrific effort to make the day a success.
Home-made slices, quiches, jams and cakes kept rolling out of the kitchen.
It was all in a good cause and the thrill of a great enterprise succeeding in such a fine way was appreciated by all concerned.
