ONLINE health hub Healthy North Coast has put out the challenge to residents to get involved in Odd Socks Day by donning a pair of odd socks tomorrow (Friday) and entering the Healthy North Coast online photo challenge.
To enter the challenge you have to upload a ‘selfie’ to the Healthy North Coast Facebook page which shows you celebrating ‘Odd Socks Day’; with bonus points awarded for creativity. The best entry will receive a Healthy North Coast supporters pack.
Healthy North Coast co-ordinator Alex Lewers said the online health hub was happy to take part in such a worthwhile event and encouraged others to do the same.
“While Odd Socks Day is a light-hearted way to recognise mental health, it has a serious and important message behind it because we can all have odd days,” Mr Lewers said.
“Hopefully through talking about this issue, as a community, we can begin to recognise and reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health.
“We encourage all North Coast residents to have some fun, and show their support by uploading photos of themselves on our Facebook page.
”Odd Socks Day is an annual event that aims to educate, inform and challenge attitudes, and dispel myths and misunderstandings of mental illness, which contribute to stigma and discrimination.”
To enter the competition people must upload a photo of themselves celebrating ‘Odd Socks Day’ to the Healthy North Coast Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/healthynorthcoast) by Friday 4pm with the winner announced at 5pm.
