PORT Macquarie-Hastings Council’s new exercise equipment lending scheme is proving a real hit with residents.
People of all ages turned out for the launch of the scheme at Port Macquarie library on Monday and library staff were kept busy taking bookings. Among them was an 83-year-old Port Macquarie woman who saw the advertisement for the launch in last week’s Independent.
“It made me think about exercising again,” she said.
Part of the Move Eat Live Well initiative, equipment will be available from Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton. All items are easily portable, such as step bands, aerobic steps, hand weights, skipping ropes, yoga mats, pedometers and Heartmoves DVDs.
Health and well-being DVDs, magazines and cookbooks will also be available for loan through all three libraries to help kick-start people that healthier lifestyle.
