PORT Macquarie CBD was packed with happy faces on Thursday night as the annual countdown to Christmas — a combined chamber and council initiative– started.
Events kicked off with a fun run catering for all ages, followed by a street parade and then entertainment on Town Green, culminating with the switching on of the town Christmas tree just after 8pm by mayor Peter Besseling and a helpful Santa Claus.
