Liesl’s a mover and shaker

Doing us proud … Liesl Marden took out third place in the grand champion ladies division.

PORT Physie and Dance member Liesl Marden has taken out third place in the grand champion ladies section at the Australian Physie and Dance National Championships, held at the Opera House in mid-November.
Liesl earned her place in the prestigious ladies final by placing fourth in the 30-35 year section of the champion ladies national finals at the Chatwood concourse earlier this month.
Fellow club members Donna Liver, Debbie McRae and Emma Siossian also won their way through to the finals in their respective sections.
Club teacher Heather Eldridge said the women had worked extremely hard this year.
“They have encouraged and supported each other with the work and have come away with great results,” she said
Six club juniors also competed at the nationals on the weekend, the first time for most of them. The six were Pearl Osborne, 7, Ella Scaysbrook, 7, Lily Monckton, 8, Melissa Downes, 8, Jamie King, 11, and Chloe Weeks, 11. While they didn’t win, all really enjoyed the experience and it was a great confidence-builder.
In the Port Physie and Dance Club competitions held in November, Liesl Marden won senior club champion and marching champion while junior club champion and dance champion went to Pearl Osborne.
