Nippers have what it takes

Early morning on the beach as competitors get ready for the first event.

PORT Macquarie Nippers competed in the first of the season’s three Mid North Coast branch carnivals at Lighthouse Beach, finishing a close second to Tacking Point, who were competing on their home beach.
More than 80 of the club’s Nippers attended the all-day event to test their skills and fight it out for glory in the water and on the beach.
On a day when the ocean provided challenging conditions in the swim and board events for all competitors, the club had some outstanding results throughout the carnival – including winning gold for flags in under-9s, under-10s and under-14s, the beach sprint in under-9s, under-10s, under-11s and under-14s, swim events in under-10s, under-11s and under-14s, board events in underunder-10s, under-11s and under-14s plus wins for board relays and iron person events and the all-important all-age relay.
