PORT Macquarie MP Leslie Williams has welcomed 73 new nurses and midwives who are starting work with the Mid North Coast Local Health District this year.
“These fresh faces have come from near and far to train and work in our local hospitals and I join the community in welcoming them to our area,” Mrs Williams said
She said 34 per cent of the state’s new nurses are being recruited to rural and regional hospitals.
“Whether it’s rebuilding bricks and mortar or recruiting more nurses and midwives, this government is delivering improved health services,” Mrs Williams said.
“The new nurses and midwives joining the Mid North Coast Local Health District this year will be learning from the best and I wish them well.
“As someone who has previously worked at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital, I know full well the commitment to high quality patient care of our nurses, midwives and hospital staff.
“I know our new nurses and midwives, like local patients, are in safe hands.”
